Fathers 4 Justice to protest at cathedral
Printable version Email to a friend Share this story Add your comment Contact us
A Fathers for Justice group will be demonstrating at Canterbury Cathedral as part of their campaign to change family law.

New Fathers for Justice are urging all dads who will not be able to see their children this Christmas to join them at 10am on Saturday, December 12 to support their campaign.

The group will be dressed in Santa costumes to put pressure on the church to help them “put the father back into Christmas”.

A spokesman for the group said: “New Fathers for Justice will yet again attempt to get our message across to the church which, like this arrogant Labour government, had ignored the plight of fathers since they have been in office.

“We are urging the church to support us in our fight to change family law and plug dads back into families in time for Christmas.

“We see this as a great necessity as we are now potentially only six months away from the general election. We hope that the Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams will help us with the plight of dads in Britain this Christmas.”

The group has urged dads to come along with banners and wearing Father Christmas outfits.

Campaigners from father’s rights groups have made a name for themselves using direct action campaigning methods to fight for better rights for fathers who want to see their children.

High profile demonstrations include a campaigner dressed as Batman staging a five-hour protest on a Buckingham Palace ledge and a father dressed as Spiderman protesting on the London Eye for 18 hours, causing it to close.

We support you across the pond in Canada. Lets put the Dad back in Christmas and the Church in the spotlight for sitting on its hands.

Maternalism seems to take precedence over needing a father yet it was apparently a father that created the universe according to the COE. Why can't we have equal shared parenting as a presumption in law?

I would agree with Mark Henricks from Austin,Texas who recognises that direct action has merit as it will get a good coverage on the news which no other campaign ever does, but you do have to get media coverage and the news to be aware in a more traditional format. Very difficult when the public service broadcaster will not even talk about it,but will ridicule someone on Harman's roof without asking why! F4J in South Africa have been called on by their Government to advise on human rights!!

Nice to see the fathers rights campaign spreading it's message across all areas of corruption. The Church has sat too long on the fence by not speaking out against anti family anti men government policies.

No point in going after this Labour government anymore as will be history soon, but turn our attention to the Conservatives and Eton Cameron, along with the judges and supporters of family destruction who are unlikely to change anything unless they feel the heat upon entering office.

I very much agree with Daveyone, all is very ambiguous when dealing with the Conservative Party, its as if the victims of family law are having a carrot dangled in front of them for the purpose of gaining our votes when the truth of the matter is that for 35yrs Families Need Fathers and 20yrs the Grandparents Association have curried favour with consecutive governments by virtue of funding and membership fees with nothing to show for it other than a well paid job and the loss of yet another generation of fatherless and deprived children and this as a charity we deplore.

A fathers love denied is by far one of the worst deprivations of our time and has proven to be the ruin of over a million children denied the much needed love and direction in their formative years as they are by an unjust family law system who for the best part see's nothing wrong in eliminating wholesome fathers and all on the paternal side after separation or divorce in complete favour of acrimonious mothers and this regardless of character.

I am happy to see Fathers 4 Justice taking this direct protest action and wish them every success. United States fathers infrequently engage in public protests, preferring to work through other media, legal and legislative channels. However, the stakes are high enough that any means that helps propel positive change in this area is important and worth trying. All the best from America, Mark Henricks

www.daveyonefamilylawman.blogspot.com Usually the F4J protests prove counter productive but providing no one climbes on the roof I think this is a good idea! This Government has stopped listening to everyone and I am a little confused with the Tory plan one minuet you have Micheal Gove saying one thing then Iain Duncan- Smith saying something else. I say get behind Gloria Hunniford as Grandparent's " These bastions of commonsense and stability could be the answer to all this!"

Please come along if you are affected by these issues or feel passionate about the cause.
All the dads will be wearing santa costumes, so if you want to come, please bring your santa costumes.
