Natalie Seymour and Abi Walker were unused substitutes as Great Britain’s women lost in the Champions Trophy final to hosts Argentina on Sunday.
Silvina D’Elia scored the only goal of the game after 29 minutes to claim the gold medal in Rosario.
Despite ending in disappoinment, the silver medal was the team’s best ever finish at a world level event, which augurs well six months before the London Olympics.
Seymour and Walker, who play club hockey for Canterbury ladies, watched the final from the bench. Both had played their role to help Britain finish second in Pool B, with Seymour playing in the quarter-final victory against Korea.
Danny Kerry, Britain’s head coach, said: “We won four, drew one and lost just one in a major world level tournament. We’ve made history winning the silver medal.
“We know where we need to improve and we will go forward and work on those areas. We have set ourselves high standards and I have to match the standards that the players have set themselves. That is the pressure I feel going into the Olympics.”
